About Makalu Base Camp Trek

Trekking along the Makalu Barun National Park, you will reach the Makalu Base Camp, the lap of the world's fifth highest mountain, Mt. Makalu. Makalu Base Camp Trek is an adventurous trek, which is done by only a handful of travelers every year. This trek is not as famous as other trekking areas like Everest Base Camp Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Therefore, the region is less crowded and offers an unspoiled landscape.

If you are someone looking for a tranquil trekking trail in the Himalayas with an equal share of off-beaten tracks and wilderness, then Makalu Base Camp Trekking is the perfect package for you. The national park ranges from lush tropical forests in the south to high alpine forests and towering Himalayan mountains in the north. This national park is home to some rare wildlife, exotic birds, and exclusive flora.

Likewise, you will cross four high passes- Shipton La Pass (4,127 m), Keke La Pass (4,230 m), Tutu La Pass (4,200 m), and Kauma La Pass. From the top of all of these passes, you will get to see breathtaking landscapes. You will be accompanied by panoramic views of mountains like Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Makalu (8,481 m), Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Baruntse (7,129 m), Chamlang (7.319 m), and numerous others.
