About Chulu Far East Climbing with Tilicho Lake

Chulu Far East Climbing with Tilicho Lake is a 21 days program in the Annapurna region. This package lets you enjoy both trekking and climbing in the western Himalayan mountains. Chulu Far East peak is one of the less technical trekking peaks in the Annapurna region that is often suggested best for amateurs.

Located near the Annapurna region, Mt. Chulu has two summits- Chulu East and Chulu West. The Chulu far east peak stands 6,059 meters and was first climbed in 1955 by a German expedition team. Chulu Far East Climbing with Tilicho Lake is an adventurous journey via beautiful villages, lush forests, and meadows.

During the Chulu Far East Climbing with Tilicho Lake, you also trek to the second highest lake in Nepal, Tilicho. The trail goes through picturesque villages like Manang and Siri Kharka. The journey lets you enjoy a breathtaking panorama of mountains like Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Annapurna IV, Nilgiri, Manaslu, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Tukuche Peak, Fishtail, Dhaulagiri, etc.

The trail further crosses Mesokanta La Pass and goes via the green pastures of Yak Kharka. You'll enjoy walking through narrow alleys and apple orchards to Jomsom. Our mountain guide will give you pre-climbing training at the base camp and assist you to reach the top of the Chulu Far East Peak. You'll have a safe and satisfying venture with us in the Himalayas.

Itinerary

Our team will pick you up from the Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is free. In the evening, we’ll meet you for a welcome dinner.

We explore Kathmandu in the first half of the day and spend the remaining day preparing for the trek. Our tour guide will assist you during the visit to the monuments, and in the late afternoon, you'll meet with the mountain guide.

After a delicious breakfast, we'll begin our long ride to Besisahar. The driving route we'll be following is very beautiful. The views of green hills, rivers, terraced fields, waterfalls, and snow-capped mountains are stunning.

Today, we’ll take a jeep ride from Besisahar to Chame. We'll see wonderful scenery during the drive.

Today is our first day of trekking. From Chame, we follow a steep and narrow trail via dense forests. The trail leads us to Paungda Danda. We further walk in a U-shaped valley, relishing mountain views.

The trail from Pisang to Nagwal is extremely beautiful, and the landscapes are spectacular too. We ascend following a winding path via small villages to Ngawal.

After breakfast, we begin trekking through thin forests and reach Julu Khola. The views of the Annapurna range and other mountains such as Pisang Peak, Tilicho Peak, etc are fantastic.

The trail ascends along a steep trail to Chulu's far east base camp. On the way, we'll cross two big rocks. The Annapurna mountains will keep us company. Upon reaching the base camp, the team will set the tents and prepare for dinner.

We have an acclimatization day at the base camp. The mountain guide will give you climbing training that will make you more confident while pushing towards Chulu top. We take lots of rest and get ready for the high camp.

From the base camp, we'll walk on steep snow slopes. The trail ascends to the Chulu far east high camp, offering a gorgeous view of the mountains. Upon reaching high camp, the team sets the tents and we go on with the day.

Today is a big day. We'll be pushing towards the top of Chulu far east. We leave the high camp around 2 AM-3 AM. Following a level trail, we begin climbing on steep slopes and crossing rocky sections. Soon, we'll reach the top of the Chulu far east above the clouds. The view is sensational from here. After enjoying the views, we'll descend back to base camp to spend the night.

We'll retrace the path back to Julu Khola. Trekking along a forested path, we reach the beautiful Manang village resided by Gurung, Magar, and other mountain communities.

We walk out of Manang village, following the western gates and walk down to a river. Crossing the river, we continue walking on the south side via coniferous forests to Khangsar village. The trail further ascends to Siri Kharka.

The trail from Siri Kharka descends via landslide-prone areas. We'll be walking following a narrow trail. We can see impressive rock formations on the way to the Tilicho base camp.

The trail goes along the moraine ridges and grassy slopes to a watershed. The lake is located on the other side at the foot of the north face of Tilicho peak. It is the second highest lake in Nepal with holy values.

Following the eastern route, we'll hike to Mesokanta La pass. The top of the pass offers surreal views of Gangapurna, Nilgiri, Tilicho Lake, Tukuche Peak, Dhaulagiri, etc. The trail then descends to Yak Kharka.

Leaving Yak Kharka, we walk on a downhill trail to Thinigaon. Crossing the village, we follow a rough path to Jomsom, a beautiful village with great mountain views.

Early in the morning, we’ll take a scenic flight to Pokhara. Upon landing in Pokhara, we drop you at the hotel. Spend the evening enjoying the sunset at Phewa Lake.

Today, we’ll drive back to Kathmandu. The team will drop you at the hotel. The remaining day is free.

Today, you have a full day free in Kathmandu. Go to the spa and do window shopping. We recommend you visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan. In the late evening, there will be a farewell dinner.
