About Island Peak Climbing
Located at the center of the Everest region of Nepal, Island Peak (6,189m) is one of the famous climbing peaks in the Himalayas. Also known as Imja Tse, Island Peak Climbing offers a great summit for beginner climbers. Many mountaineers usually climb Island Peak to gear themself for further precipitous mountains.
Island Peak is surrounded by Mt. Baruntse to the south and Mt. Lhotse & Mt. Nuptse's south wall to the north. The journey itself is remarkably scenic and endlessly stimulating. Trekking through beautiful Sherpa villages and lovely forests of rhododendron, you will head to Chhukung valley and ascend to Island Peak Base Camp.
Our Island Peak Climbing itinerary also explores the lap of the world's highest mountain, Everest Base Camp, and further takes you to the Kala Patthar viewpoint. According to history, Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing used this peak as a training peak during their Mt. Everest expedition in 1953.
While pushing towards the summit, you will cross crevasses with ladders and jumars on the fixed-line. The entire climbing is more on the challenging side rather than technical. Numerous Himalayan mountains like Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Nuptse (7,861 m), Mt. Makalu (8,481 m), Mt. Baruntse (7,129 m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812 m), etc will be your continuous companion.
